Staff to Child Ratios
My Place values team building and staff development! Children receive quality engaged care from our amazing team of early childhood teachers. We follow the New York State Office of Children and Family Services set ratios for center licensing:

  • Infants (6 weeks-18 months): 1 staff member for every 4 children
  • Toddlers (18 months-3 years): 1 staff member for every 5 children
  • Preschoolers (3-4's): 1 staff member for every 7 children
  • School Age (Kindergarten-12): 1 staff member for every 10 children

Each room has a full time Lead Teacher, an Assistant Teacher and 1-2 support staff.

Staff Qualifications and Training
Staff are encouraged and supported to pursue their continuing education. Although staff vary in background, most of the staff have their Child Development Associates, Bachelor's or Master's Degree. Each staff is required to be fingerprinted upon hire and have a conducted background check.

Each staff receives at least 30 hours of training every two years. Training areas include: child development, appropriate supervision, nutrition, meeting the needs of the children enrolled at My Place that may have physical or emotional challenges, behavior management, and partnering with parents.

Every staff at My Place is a mandated reporter having been trained in child abuse and maltreatment identification and prevention.

Staff re-certify in CPR and First Aid every two years.

My Place is proud to serve as a learning campus for high school and college students who are interested in pursuing Early Childhood studies and careers. All students are under the direct supervision of the teachers and not counted in classroom supervision ratios. Substitutes join our team to maintain staff/child ratios in the absence of a regular staff member.
